How Much Do Real Estate Agents Make?

Salaries for California agents range from $24,970 at the bottom 10th percentile to 123 thousand dollars in the top 1%. This puts it among the highest-paid states across America. The average annual salary was 68-80k with most earning 80K according to BLS stats.

California is an attractive place for high-earning professionals. Salaries can vary greatly depending on where you live, but the state still has one of America’s highest annual averages at $67K per year (6th in U.S.).

You might think that there's not much to do in California besides work - after all, its average salary tops out near $70k and it doesn't even crack the Top 10 when considering the best states for wages. However, these numbers tend to go hand-in-hand with great benefits like health care coverage which ranges between 80% at companies ranked 1.

How Do Agent Commission Splits Work in California?

How much do California real estate agents take home after each close? There are a few things to consider. First, the total commission paid by sellers can range anywhere from 1-6%. The standard rate is 5% but for high priced properties (i.e $1+ million) it may be more like 4 -5%. The amount of time spent on listing and showing homes also impacts your splits; if you're only doing one or two showings per week with no offers made during those sessions then expect lower earnings than someone who has been working 10 hours daily at this job since they began their career three months ago.

As a real estate agent in California, you can expect an average salary of $82.611 as it's November 1st 2021 which is about 39 hours worth ($1,589) pay per week or 6884 dollars monthly on top for 40 hour workweeks with no overtime requirement.
